This teaching unit will cover all antimicrobial therapeutic innovations targeting either the components of infectious agents or host immunity. The different aspects of vaccination will be covered with emphasis on the latest innovations in humans (and more particularly for the anti-COVID vaccination). The use of anti-infective serotherapies will also be discussed.

Lectures (25.5h): (lectures will be given either in the form of CM or in the form of conferences on the following topics)

Reminder in Immunology: from the activation of innate immunity to the development of the anti-infectious effector response.

History and success of vaccines

What are the different forms of vaccines.

Use of adjuvants and modulation of the adaptive response.

Research in anti-infectious vaccinology.

Development of anti-infective serotherapies.

Use of chemical modulators of innate immunity to control infections.

Immunometabolism and antiviral immunity, state of knowledge.

Biomimicry to discover and develop new antiviral drugs.
