Le plus de l'université Lyon 1 :

The MASTER 2 Fundamental and Clinical Neurosciences (FCN) is an English-taught program based on a dense network of research laboratories gathering over 500 people (CRNL, INMG, ISC-MJ, SBRI) that makes Lyon one of the main location for Neuroscience research in France, with a strong interaction with clinical departments. The excellence and dynamism of this research is recognized by the obtention of numerous research contracts notably within the frame of the French "Investissement d'Avenir" programs (e.g. LabEx CORTEX, SFRI Graduate school Neuro). These funding contribute to the development of training opportunities (seminars, workshops, summer schools, etc…), laboratory internships and PhD fellowships. The master of Neurosciences has strong interaction with the Neurosciences and Cognition PhD program in Lyon, one of the rare French PhD programs dedicated to Neurosciences (NSCO ED476). This enables master students to gain a better understanding of academic research and its work opportunities through interactions with PhD students and researchers.

    Description de la formation :

    Program Description :

The MASTER 2 path Fundamental and Clinical Neurosciences (FCN) aims to promote the acquisition of neuroscientific skills and knowledge, including multi-levels approaches enabling to study both normal and pathological cerebral functions and their use in fundamental and clinical research. Open to students with a background in any of the various domains of neurosciences (scientific, medical/pharmaceutical training), the program provides a broad and solid neuroscientific training, including theoretical courses, practical sessions, and research projects. These elements are critical for the integration of knowledge and its practical application to problems of a neuro-physiological or neuro-pathological nature. Students can personalize their training thanks to the choice of optional courses and thereby increase their specialization in their field of interest. During the first semester, training covers from molecular neurobiology to integrative and cognitive neurosciences in animal models and in humans. The training also covers clinical applications as well as computational neurosciences. The second semester is dedicated to a long-term full-time laboratory internship, during which students develop a neuroscientific research project and acquire specific practical skills. All courses are taught in English.

    Potential Students and Prerequisites :

The Master 2 FCN is a second year (M2) specialization of the Master of "Neurosciences" delivered by UCB Lyon1. It is open to students from the first year of this Master's program and to any student who has completed the first year of a Master's program (M1) that includes courses in the field of neurosciences. Applications from students with previous training in disciplines related to Neuroscience (engineering, mathematics/physics/computer science applied to biology) who have shown an interest in the interface with Neuroscience are also encouraged. Candidates originating from Health training programs must hold a Master 1 "Introduction to Biomedical Research" (formerly Master in Medical Research or MSB) or any other equivalent degree.

Admission to the M2 FCN program is subject to acceptance of the application by the Master's admission committee. The application is evaluated according to the nature of the previous courses, the student's academic level and the acceptation for an internship in a laboratory validated by the pedagogical team.
