    Programme de l'UE / Thématiques abordées :

This course introduces the main aspects of industrial property, that is to say, intellectual property rights that protect the results of industrial activity, such as patents, trademarks, utility models, and protected designs. It deals also with ethical issues required for a sustainable and responsible approach in research. The course gives also insights on innovation and entrepreneurship. Staff from INPI (national institute for intellectual properties) and patent engineer will be involved in the UE.

Intellectual property:

•    Structures and professions in industrial property

•    Definitions: intellectual property and industrial property

•    elements of industrial property: patents, trademarks, designs, and utility models

•    Patents

•    Definitions, conditions, and exclusions of patentability

•    Structure and costs of patent applications

•    Statistics on patents

•    The Soleau envelope

•    Valorisation of patents, licensing

•    Patent protection, infringement and sanctions 

•    Patent search

•    Search for prior art

•    Exploitation

•    Technology scouting and competitive intelligence

•    Patent databases

Innovation:

  • Creativity process : how to identify main challenges and design innovative solutions
  • Business Model : how to make a viable concept according to the market needs
  • Business Plan & Investor’s meeting what and how presenting your concept to potential investors

Ethics, Bioethics:

  • What is not or should not be patentable?
  • Short and Long term issues
  • Risks. The benefits/risks balance and its limits.
  • Ethics versus regulation
