    Compétences attestées (transversales, spécifiques) :

Transversal

-        Know how to search bibliographic databases, identify pertinent publications related to a topic and synthetize information (written and oral synthesis)

Specific

-        Know how to combine and integrate different levels of analysis to identify and characterize the neural bases of a behavior in both physiological and pathological contexts.

-        Know how to critically analyze experimental results originating from these different levels of analysis

-        Learn about a variety of behaviors

    Programme de l'UE / Thématiques abordées :

This UE addresses the neural bases of behavior through the presentation of animal models and interventional approaches allowing to bring to light the mechanisms underlying cerebral functions. These mechanisms are studied at the scale of a neuron, sets of neurons or cerebral circuits and in connection with the measurement of behavior.

Examples of topics:

Nervous system functioning and behavior in healthy zebrafish and in models of neurological disorder.

Functional dissection of the reward circuit and addictive behavior: neuropharmacological and optogenetic approaches in rodents

Non-human primate contribution to the study of social cognition

Spatial cognition: behavioral and electrophysiological evidence of the dynamic representation of space by the brain in rodents and primates

 Behavioral and cerebral asymmetries

New neurons in the adult brain: a role in memory?

Motivated behavior:  odor-guided behaviors and modulation by optogenetics
