The main objective of this Master’s programme is to train students coming from Bachelor’s degrees and/or professional courses in fields related to disability and the enhancement of autonomy for people with disabilities. The programme places emphasis on:
Methodological training suited to understanding the complex challenges surrounding the evolution of healthcare systems, particularly in France.
The importance of an interdisciplinary approach in assessing disability and restoring autonomy, regardless of the type of impairment.
The course provides a core foundation of knowledge and methodology covering essential topics in health, psychology, and biology.
Through its different study tracks, this Master’s stands out for its multidisciplinary approach to cerebral impairments (sensory, motor, and cognitive). Specialisations are offered in neurosciences (HSCo, TecS), technologies (TecS), and motor function (Rehab).
The Master’s in Health welcomes:
Students holding a state diploma and/or a Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation or re-education, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, audiologists, orthoptists, nurses, etc., who wish to pursue a university degree in addition to their professional qualification.
Medical students in their third cycle [holders of the Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées (DES) in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine or Geriatrics], mainly trained at UCBL, with a project focused on the evaluation of disability and/or rehabilitation.
Qualified healthcare and rehabilitation professionals working with individuals with disabilities or reduced autonomy.
Professionals involved in improving the organisation of care for people with disabilities and their families, social or professional environments.
Students in physical activity and sports sciences, particularly those specialising in Adapted Physical Activity (APA).
This track focuses on fundamental and clinical research in the assessment and remediation of sensory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
It provides:
Methodological foundations for developing assessment tools for sensory and cognitive impairments, drawing from cognitive psychology (behavioural studies), neuroscience (neuroimaging), and clinical practice. These approaches take into account the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF, WHO, 2001), particularly the identification of personal and environmental factors.
Rehabilitation techniques based on evidence-based criteria applied to non-pharmacological, behavioural, medical-surgical, and physiotherapeutic interventions.
This multidisciplinary track lies at the interface between rehabilitation professions and techniques, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and health, with an introduction to technological innovation.
Its main aim is to meet the same needs as the HSCo track while training professionals (mainly paramedical staff) to evaluate emerging technologies used in the assessment and rehabilitation of sensory, motor, or cognitive impairments.
Graduates will be equipped to become future clinicians and researchers capable of evaluating practices and outcomes linked to new assessment and rehabilitation tools, including those based on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and robotics.
This track is designed for professionals with a greater interest in research and evaluation in motor disability rehabilitation.
It involves teaching across Lyon, Saint-Étienne, and Clermont-Ferrand.
