The Master’s degree bee@lyon aims to train students in the fields of fundamental and applied ecology (conservation and spatial management) — in both natural and human-modified environments — as well as in evolutionary and environmental genomics.
Current scientific questions and future challenges in these disciplines are presented through an interdisciplinary approach, which is a hallmark of the Lyon school of thought.
After a first semester dedicated to acquiring the conceptual and methodological foundations of ecology and evolution, students can specialise in one of the following four tracks:
Écologie Évolution Génomique (EEG@lyon)
Bioévaluation des Écosystèmes et Expertise de la Biodiversité (BEEB@lyon)
Écologie de l’Anthropocène: Urbanisation, Biodiversité, Eau (EAube@lyon)
Génomique Environnementale (GE@Lyon)
or in the international track Integrated Watershed Sciences (IWS@lyon) starting from the third semester.
Graduates may pursue careers in both public research institutions (CNRS, universities, INRA, ONCFS, IRSTEA, CIRAD, etc.) and private organisations (EDF, CNR, consultancy firms, etc.), as well as in environmental management and conservation (nature protection associations, regional parks, departmental councils, etc.) and territorial governance (local authorities, government agencies).
Graduates may work as research engineers, environmental project officers, natural heritage managers, ecological engineers, research engineers (PhD level), or pursue careers as researchers and lecturer-researchers (PhD level).
